How I Submit My WordPress Blog to Google — Step-by-step Guide.
Before we begin with the step-by-step guide on how to submit a blog to Google, let’s make sure you have all the requirements I will be listing.
- A Google account to log in search console.
- Make sure you have the header and footer plugin installed to add the code that will be given to you by Google to verify that you own the domain you are submitting to them. You can download the plugin here and go to Plugins>Add New>Upload Plugin. Once you finish uploading the plugin active it by using the “Activate Plugin” button.
- A Google search Console account to submit your URL to Google.
If it meets the entire requirement, you can continue to submit your blog with the step-by-step guide.
Step 1: Login to your GSC account.
Step 2: Insert Your blog URL.
Once you login to your Google account, you will be prompt to add a new property.
All you have to do is insert your blog URL in the space, as stated in the image.
NOTE: if your blog starts with HTTPS make sure you add it with the HTTPS, for example, https://www.example.com or http://www.example.com.
Make sure you submit the exact URL of your blog because Google counts HTTP and HTTPS as different properties in Google Search Console.
Step 3: Get the Verification Meta-tag to Verify Your Domain.
Once you click on the submit button, a new window will pop up requesting that you should verify your domain as the owner they want to make sure you are the real owner of the domain.
1. Scroll down until you can see “Other verification Methods.”
2. Choose “Add a meta tag to your site’s homepage,“
3. From the drop-down copy the meta tag code, it looks like this
“<meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx”>”
4. Copy that code.
Step 4: Add the Meta-tag Code into Header Section of Your blog.
Login to your WordPress admin dashboard from a new tab/window of your browser and do not close the search console tab.
- Locate the Insert Header, and Footer Plugin go to Settings>Insert header and footer.
- Paste the code you copied from search console into the first space
- Save the system.
Step 5: Verify That You Own The Domain.
Now go to The search console tab and click on “Verify” and allow the tab to refresh, by far you should get a success message telling that your property was successfully verified and added.

You need to give Google a map that your site is ready to get indexed, and it will help them to crawl your entire blog and add it to their index by submitting the sitemap of your blog.

It is the very first thing I do after I submit my WordPress blog to Google.

Go to your Google search console account and navigate to “Sitemaps.”
Now add the sitemaps given below.
Copy and paste each sitemap as seen above and do not alter any of them. Once done, your site is entirely under Google control it will get indexed in next 5minutes to 24 hours maximum.
